Loss of a Service leader – at manager/director or C-level, whether planned or unexpected represents the most difficult of challenges in maintaining business continuity. If in BAU the leadership of the function and outcomes is a full-time role. In periods of turnaround or transformation, the impact can be material to the delivery of the programmes, deepening team disquiet and customer satisfaction downturn. Pressure builds on other leaders and the team, and motivation falls.
Short-notice engagement on an interim basis is the quickest solution. Senior hiring is a six- month activity to source and onboard, an interim leader will plug the gap, maintain operational responsibility and, if needed, support ongoing turnaround and/or transformation activity immediately.
Interim is also an excellent approach if you are looking to hire full time service leadership but in smaller organisations this isn’t necessarily a role long-term. Instead, a fixed period of interim leadership to determine strategy and build the foundations of your Service function can be utilised, to then handover to a less costly operational manager.
The service is flexible to suit your needs – organisational level, length of engagement, working arrangements, location, objectives, and cost.
